How to use old candles

10:33 AM

Hi guys!

I love scented candles. I have one burning in my room almost all the time. And the best part - they always come in cute packaging. But once you burn them there is always some wax left in the packaging. So you can never burn all of the wax (your room doesn't smell nice for all of the time it could) and you can't reuse the cute packaging. That's why I decided to do something about it. So following this few simple steps you can use up all the wax and reuse the cute packaging for storage.

Let's begin! 😊

What you need:
- all the "almost burned out" candles you have
- a big cooking pot
- a glass or something to put the "new" candle in
- some wire (just a little bit)
- new candle thread
- alcohol (not to drink, but to clean 😛)
- tissues

Step 1: Full a big cooking pot with water (the level of water must be high enough so that no candle is touching the bottom) and put it on the stove. Put your candles in. Firstly use the high heat (just for a few minutes, so the water heats up a bit) and then put it on low heat. Be patient and wait for wax to start melting.

Step 2: Take out the old thread from all candles and prepare one for the new candle. You just take your glass, put the new thread in, twist some wire on top of it and secure it on the edges of the glass.

Tip: You can put a drop of melted wax on the bottom of your glass to keep the new thread in place.

Step 3: When the wax is melted, carefully (the candle package is probably super hot so use protecting gloves)  take one candle out, pour the wax in the glass you have prepared and wait for a minute so it cools off a bit. Then repeat the step with all of the candles one by one. Congratulations, you've made a new candle! 😉

Step 4: Now it's time to properly clean the packaging of all the candles. If there is still some wax left inside, put it on the stove again and wait for it to melt, then pour it away. Next, wipe the packaging with some tissues. Now spray some alcohol on the packaging and clean it - this will remove all the stickiness left from labels or wax.

That's it - now you have a new candle and some cute packaging for storing bits and pieces.
